Always Smile
We all have tough days from time to time. You may have done poorly on a test at school, had a fight with your friend, or got in trouble with your parents. It’s ok, this is all part of life and any one of these things has the potential of hurting you and ruining your day. But just think about it, does it really need to ruin your entire day?
While a bad situation can definitely hurt you and give you a bad mood, it’s your choice how you handle it. You can stew in your feelings, or you can let it go and move on with the rest of your day. If there is ever a choice, we would all choose to feel better. But how do you choose to always smile?
The Meaning of a Smile
This may seem superficial at first. Just how does smiling when you are in a bad mood change anything? Well, it really doesn’t, but that isn’t the meaning of a smile. Your smile should be an expression of the happiness inside you, so it’s not good to smile when you don’t really mean it. To ‘always smile’ means to have a good mood, not smile through a bad mood.
After something upsetting happens, you should think about the situation and see how you may improve it in the future. But after you have done this, it is time to let it go and let yourself have fun again. By smiling, you express your inner peace and happiness to yourself and the world.
How Your Smile Affects Others
Disagreements and learning experiences are a part of growing up. When these things happen, it is time to learn from them with an open mind. Think about a time you did poorly on a test, your teacher may want to go over the test and show you what you did wrong. By taking this experience with gratitude and acceptance, you can smile afterwards and thank your teacher.
This expresses your good mood to others and may help them have a good mood too. But what happens if you let your bad mood stay throughout your day? You may go to martial arts practice and spread your bad mood to your friends and teachers there. Even though they may not know why you have a bad mood, it may affect them. Your smile can have a positive impact on others, while your frown can have a negative impact.
Choosing a Smile
By smiling, you take all experiences with positivity and maintain a good mood. But how do you smile when you are upset? It can be difficult, and it may not always be appropriate to smile. This is why you accept the unhappy moments with positivity, but smile afterwards to welcome a better mood. You can achieve this by having control over your emotions.
All emotions are natural, but some may put you in a bad mood that affects your entire day. By letting go of negative emotions and embracing positive ones, you control your mood and you can always choose to smile.
